What was your first “ah-ha!” moment before going independent in the Salesforce ecosystem?
At the beginning of my Salesforce career, I worked for a consulting firm that was hyper-focused on scale. It was an exciting and challenging phase of my career, and the firm eventually sold – a major success!
However, toward the end of that process, I realized I had moved further and further away from the work that got me excited: solution-building and problem-solving. I knew working as an independent consultant would allow me to provide a more immediate impact for many different customers and verticals.
What are some of your favorite parts about being an independent Salesforce expert?
There is never a dull moment because of the variety of project work and challenges I get to take on. I’m always learning. Getting brought on as a consultant means I’m the end-to-end project lead, and it’s what I thrive on. It’s rewarding to push myself and be accountable for every client’s success.
I also love picking my schedule to roll up and down as needed. This allows me to be strategic when growing my consulting and ISV business or jumping on projects.
How does working with 10K let you focus on the work you love?
I can count on 10K to pitch projects that align with my interests and skills. Having 10K in my corner helps me get more of the project work I love doing. They also manage client acquisition, so I can dive in and get to work when the project is ready. No discovery call is needed!
It also helps all their clients come to the table knowing they are working with an independent consultant. No white labels, no stigma, and no hiding – this helps me focus on the important work and lead as the expert they hired me to be.
Another perk of being a 10K Expert is gaining access to their global community of independent consultants. They just launched a Slack community. It’s been awesome to connect and project troubleshoot with like-minded folks.
