What are some of your favorite parts about being an independent consultant?

The freedom to work exactly how I want to work. I love being able to set my own schedule. I can be picky about who I work with and the kind of projects I take on. When I was working a full-time office job, I obviously couldn’t pick who my teammates were, but now I can choose the people I want to work with. That makes a huge difference in my day-to-day. 

How does working with 10K let you focus on the work you love?

10K has a cool roster of projects, and they know what I enjoy working on. Every project they offer aligns with my skills and interests. Their support model also shoulders many burdens of running a solo business – they manage invoicing, pay me on time, and have made timekeeping simple. 

As a 10K Expert, I also have direct access to their leadership team. They’ve worked in the Salesforce ecosystem for many years, so their advice is invaluable. I love knowing I can turn to Mike or Jared, who have been a major influence on my consulting soft skills and bounce ideas off of them. 

How has 10K shaped your career? Helped you advance your skills?

Exposure to a wide variety of projects has helped advance my skills and deepen my experience. I’ve landed the types of projects I typically couldn’t source on my own. I’m thankful I joined 10K at the start of my independent journey because their projects have helped me build a strong foundation for my business.

Why do you like being part of the 10K Community?

I don’t feel alone as an independent consultant. I feel real support and a sense of community. 

If I run into something that trips me up, whether it’s about a project or my business, I know I can turn to other experienced consultants for help. Sure, there are other communities out there I appreciate, but the 10K Expert Community is hand-picked and catered to independents like myself. There’s nothing else like it in the ecosystem.
