What was your first “ah-ha!” moment before going independent in the Salesforce ecosystem?

There were two aspects to my decision. One was all about timing, and the other was deeply personal. 

It was 2020 at the height of the pandemic, and I, like many others, suddenly had extra time on my hands while working from home. I decided to freelance on the side and pick up some extra cash. That was my first taste of what working for myself could be like. 

That same year, my first daughter was born. I realized I wanted nothing more than to be at home with her. The early years move by at warp speed! And I didn’t want to miss those moments. 

Since going independent, I’ve seen the real value of freedom. I get to set my hours, take vacations without worry, and maintain my personal vision of work/life balance.

What are some of your favorite parts about being an independent Salesforce expert? 

I get to work exactly how I want to work. I get to choose which projects to take on and pass on work that doesn’t align with my interests. Additionally, for projects that require more than my expertise, I get to choose who I want to subcontract to and partner with. 

How does working with 10K let you focus on the work you love?

10K provides another avenue to pick up projects, which is crucial as an independent. And not only that, it’s a bespoke experience –  they are dialed into my skill set. 10K only pitches me on projects that speak to my strengths and interests. 

I also love being a member of a global community of independent Salesforce consultants. It’s been an awesome source of support. Instead of spending hours on Google or forums looking for an answer, I can turn to my peers, who are also deeply experienced, and get the help I’m looking for.
